Speaking Practice Topics
Practice all three parts of the IELTS Speaking test. Record your answers and compare with Band 7+ sample responses.
Introduction & Interview — The examiner asks general questions about yourself and familiar topics.
Individual Long Turn — You speak for 1-2 minutes on a given topic after 1 minute of preparation.
Two-way Discussion — You discuss abstract ideas related to the Part 2 topic with the examiner.
Part 1 — Your Hometown & Daily Life
Let's start with some questions about where you live. Can you tell me about your hometown?
Part 2 — Long Turn: A Book That Influenced You
I'm going to give you a topic and I'd like you to talk about it for one to two minutes. Before you talk, you'll have one minute to think about what you're going to say. You can make some notes if you wish.
Part 3 — Abstract Discussion: Education & Technology
We've been talking about books and reading. Now I'd like to ask you some more general questions about education and technology.
Speaking Section Tips
- • Speak clearly and at a natural pace — don't rush or speak too slowly.
- • Extend your answers with examples, reasons, and comparisons.
- • Record yourself and listen back — you'll notice hesitations and repetitions you can improve.
- • Part 2: Use your preparation minute to jot down 3-4 key points, not a full script.
