Band 4 vocabulary in context

I think technology is very good. It helps many people do their work. It is also good for communication.

Why this works: Repeated 'good'. 'Many people' is vague. 'Think' is overused. Very basic.

Band 6 upgraded vocabulary

I genuinely believe that technology has been transformative for the modern workplace. It has enabled a significant number of people to work remotely, which has had a profound impact on work-life balance. In terms of communication, it has made collaboration across different time zones not only possible but remarkably seamless.

Why this works: Upgraded: genuinely believe, transformative, enabled, significant number, profound impact, remarkably seamless. Natural and precise.

transformative

causing a major change

Example: This technology has been transformative.

seamless

smooth and without difficulty

Example: The transition was remarkably seamless.

profound

very great or intense

Example: It had a profound impact on my life.

fulfilling

making you feel satisfied and happy

Example: I find my work very fulfilling.

detrimental

causing harm

Example: This is detrimental to public health.

Using the right adjective-noun combination (collocation) is more impressive than using a rare word incorrectly.

  • Learn collocations, not just individual words.
  • Use 'I genuinely believe' instead of 'I think' for a more confident tone.
